Six Unique Neighborhood Zones Legend of the Seas Hollywoodland Supper Club Legend of the Seas , Suit Royal Caribbean Barcelona Port Is Legend of the Seas the biggest cruise ship in the world? Yes in practice she shares the title with her sisters Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. All three are essentially the same size, and Legend is a fraction longer than the other two, which is why some outlets now call her the single largest. Either way, you won't notice the difference on board. Hero of the Seas, the fourth Icon Class ship, follows in 2027. What's new on Legend of the Seas? (vs Icon and Star) Legend shares the Icon Class layout, so most of the big-ticket features (the waterpark, Crown's Edge, the AquaDome, Royal Bay) are the same as on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. What's genuinely different is the entertainment, some of the dining and the casino: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the main-theatre Broadway show, exclusive to Legend. (Icon has The Wizard of Oz; Star has Back to the Future.) Royal Railway Legend Station an immersive train-carriage dinner themed on Marco Polo's Silk Road journey, with a multi-course menu. For the pool: Seven pools and ten whirlpools, including Royal Bay, the biggest pool at sea, and The Hideaway, a suspended infinity pool for adults only. Swim & Tonic, the swim-up bar, and private casitas you can rent. For the evening: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Royal Theater. AquaTheater shows in the AquaDome. Absolute Zero ice shows. Live music, comedy and the new double-height casino. Legend of the Seas pros and cons Pros The most dining choice in the fleet, plus a new Broadway show you can only see on this ship. Something for every age the eight neighbourhoods really do spread people out. In Europe, she gives you an Icon Class ship without flying to Florida. Brand new, LNG-powered, and immaculate. Cons Busy port-heavy Med itineraries leave little time to enjoy the ship itself. With up to 7,600 guests, sea days and popular venues get crowded. The best new experiences (Hollywoodland, Royal Railway) cost extra. Fares are at the top end of Royal Caribbean pricing. Is Legend of the Seas worth it? Yes, if you want the biggest, newest Royal Caribbean experience and you're happy to pay for it. She's the best choice for multi-generational families and first-timers who want everything in one place. If you're a couple after a quieter trip, or you'd rather spend your budget ashore, an older, smaller ship on the same Med route will give you better value. Legend of the Seas FAQ How big is Legend of the Seas? Legend of the Seas is about 250,800 gross tons, 1,198 ft (365 m) long and 20 decks high. She's the same size as Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, making the three of them the largest cruise ships in the world. How many passengers does Legend of the Seas hold? She carries 5,610 guests at double occupancy and up to 7,600 at full capacity, with around 2,350 crew. When did Legend of the Seas launch? Legend of the Seas was delivered in June 2026 and sailed her maiden voyage on 4 July 2026 from Rome (Civitavecchia). Where does Legend of the Seas sail from? Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia) in summer, and Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) in winter from November 2026. Is Legend of the Seas going to Europe in 2027? Yes. She returns to the Mediterranean in May 2027 for 7-night cruises from Barcelona and Rome. What is unique to Legend of the Seas? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Silk Road-themed Royal Railway Legend Station, the Hollywoodland Supper Club, new AquaTheater and ice shows, and Royal Caribbean's first double-height casino. Is Legend of the Seas good for adults without kids? Yes. The Hideaway is an adults-only pool, and the speciality restaurants, supper club and theatre shows are aimed at grown-ups. Expect lots of families in school holidays. Is the Hollywoodland Supper Club included? No, it's a speciality dining experience with an extra charge. See my full review . Is Legend of the Seas bigger than Icon of the Seas? Only fractionally. She's marginally longer, but in gross tonnage and passenger capacity the two are effectively identical. What Makes Star of the Seas Different? Eight neighbourhoods Royal Caribbean splits Star into eight zones so the ship feels smaller than she is: Thrill Island, Chill Island, Surfside, The Hideaway, Central Park, Royal Promenade, AquaDome and the Suite Neighbourhood. Category 6 waterpark and Crown's Edge Thrill Island holds Category 6, the biggest waterpark at sea, with six record-setting slides including open free-fall drops and family raft rides. Crown's Edge is part ropes course, part thrill ride, ending with a swing out over the side of the ship. The AquaDome A glass-and-steel dome at the very front of the ship with sweeping, roughly 220-degree ocean views. By day it's a calm lounge with a waterfall and the AquaDome Market food hall; by night the AquaTheater pool hosts Torque. Chill Island and Royal Bay Chill Island spans three decks and holds four of the ship's seven pools, including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea, and Swim & Tonic, Royal Caribbean's swim-up bar. Back to the Future: The Musical Star is the first ship to stage the Broadway and West End musical, complete with a full-size DeLorean effect, in the Royal Theater. How is Star different from Icon of the Seas? Same hull, same neighbourhoods, same waterpark. The differences are entertainment, a few restaurants and where she sails: Star of the Seas Cabins and Suites Star has around 2,805 cabins in 28 categories – more than 70% have a balcony or an interior view of a neighbourhood. Cabin type , Approx. size , What you get Interior 150–180 sq ft, Standard inside room; some have a virtual balcony screen Promenade / Central Park / Surfside view 180–230 sq ft, Window or balcony overlooking an interior neighbourhood – no sea view Ocean View 180–250 sq ft, Window; panoramic versions at the front of the ship Balcony 180–260 sq ft (incl. balcony), Private sea-view balcony the most common cabin Surfside Family Suite 550 sq ft, Kids' alcove with bunks, balcony over Surfside, Sea Class perks Junior / Grand Suites 280–600 sq ft, Larger rooms and Sea or Sky Class suite benefits Royal Loft Suite 1,500+ sq ft, Multi-level loft with large terrace and Star Class butler-style service Ultimate Family Townhouse 1,700 sq ft, Three-level suite with its own indoor slide, cinema room and front door onto Surfside Suite guests get the Suite Neighbourhood: a private sundeck and pool, Coastal Kitchen and (for Star and Sky Class) The Grove. Read our Sky Class explainer . Our tip: Surfside-view balconies are cheaper than sea-view balconies but are noisy until about 9pm – great for families, not for light sleepers. If you want quiet, pick an ocean-facing balcony mid-ship. Star of the Seas Restaurants Complimentary Main Dining Room – three-course dinner nightly, plus breakfast and lunch Windjammer Marketplace – the buffet, deck 15 AquaDome Market – food hall with five stalls; new on Star: Mai Thai, Pig Out BBQ and La Cocinita (empanadas and arepas) Surfside Eatery and Surfside Bites – family-friendly buffet and snacks El Loco Fresh – tacos and burritos Sorrento's – pizza, open late Park Café, Pearl Café – sandwiches, salads, pastries Sprinkles – soft-serve ice cream Coastal Kitchen and The Grove – suite guests only Specialty (extra cost) Lincoln Park Supper Club – Star exclusive. A Chicago-themed, multi-course dinner with live entertainment, about 40 seats; around $200 per person Chops Grille – steakhouse Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar – Central Park Hooked Seafood – deck 15 Izumi Hibachi & Sushi Pier 7 – casual, brunch-style dining near Surfside Chef's Table – five courses with wine pairings Celebration Table – private dining room for groups Booking tip: Lincoln Park Supper Club sells out early on almost every sailing – book it in the Cruise Planner the moment it opens. If you want two or three specialty meals, a dining package is usually cheaper than paying per meal. Shows and Nightlife on Star of the Seas Star has five headline productions across stage, water, air and ice more than any Royal Caribbean ship before her: Back to the Future: The Musical (Royal Theater) – the first time it's been staged at sea, played with the largest orchestra on any ship. Torque (AquaTheater) – high divers, synchronised swimmers, slackliners and acrobats with a motorsport theme. Pirates & Mermaids (AquaTheater) – a family-friendly aqua show. Sol (Absolute Zero ice rink) – an ice show that follows the sun across a single day, from Miami to Santa Monica. Create (Royal Theater) – an original family show about a robot called KRE-8 discovering art and music. Ocean Odyssey – the parade along the Royal Promenade. Shows are free but reserve seats in the Royal Caribbean app before you sail. Best bars: Dueling Pianos for a singalong, the Overlook Bar in the AquaDome for sunset views, Swim & Tonic for daytime pool drinks, Lou's Jazz 'n Blues in Central Park, and The Hideaway bar for an adults-only party vibe. Star of the Seas Insider Tips Skip the Windjammer on embarkation day. Head to the AquaDome Market or El Loco Fresh instead – same free food, far shorter queues. Book everything in the app before you board. Shows, Crown's Edge, ice skating and the escape room fill up fast. If you miss out, keep checking – slots reopen when other guests cancel. Arrive early for Torque. The best AquaTheater seats are in the centre; side seats have restricted views. Do The Hideaway early or late. It's packed by late morning. Go at sail-away or during the dinner hour. Use Surfside in the evening. It's quieter and cooler once the day crowds leave – ideal with toddlers. Look out for Sailor, Star's Chief Dog Officer, who appears at set times around the ship (check the app). Prepay gratuities when you book to lock in today's rate. Symphony of the Seas - Flowrider Symphony of the Seas What Makes Symphony of the Seas Different? Flight: Dare to Dream – Symphony's exclusive original production (Royal Theater). HiRO – high diving, slacklines and acrobatics in the AquaTheater (weather dependent). 1977 – the ice show in Studio B, a time-travelling heist set in London and a follow-on to Harmony's 1887. Comedy Live, Jazz on 4 and live music around the ship most nights. Best bars: the Bionic Bar (robot bartenders on the Promenade), the Rising Tide bar that moves between decks, Boleros for Latin music, and Playmakers for sport. Signature Night: The AquaTheater After Dark The AquaTheater on the Boardwalk is Symphony's big "wow" venue. Here's how to get the most from it: Reserve HiRO on day one. Free, but seats go in the app before you board. Arrive 20–30 minutes early for a central seat; the top rows give the best view of the dives. Bring a layer – it's open-air and can be breezy after dark. If the show's cancelled for wind, check the app – it's usually rescheduled later in the cruise. Insider Tips for Symphony of the Seas Book shows the moment your cruise planner opens. Hairspray, Flight, HiRO and 1977 all need reservations. Use the Royal Caribbean app for everything – dining, shows, check-in and the daily planner. Ride the Ultimate Abyss early or at dinnertime when queues are shortest. Central Park is the quiet spot on a busy sea day – there's a free guided tour on some sailings. Galveston embarkation: arrive at your check-in time slot rather than early; the terminal gets crowded mid-morning. Symphony of the Seas FAQs Where does Symphony of the Seas sail from in 2026? Check the Navigator app for the night it's scheduled on your sailing, as times and the deck-party line-up vary on shorter cruises. Disney Wish Insider Tips No midship lifts or stairs. Lifts and stairs are forward and aft only. If your cabin is midship, walk through the public decks (3, 4 and 5) and then go up or down. See the Hyperspace Lounge with the kids. It's open to families earlier in the evening, so you can watch the hyperspace jumps without a reservation. Adults-only hours are later; capacity is small, so check the app. Ride the AquaMouse on embarkation day. Lines are shortest straight after boarding and while the first dinner seating is eating. Look for the Chip 'n' Dale pool. It's a quieter splash spot away from the main pools on the upper decks. Book speciality dining early. Short sailings mean only two or three nights to fit it in. - Civitavecchia Cruise Port Guide 2026: Trains to Rome & Tips
Civitavecchia cruise port 2026: new Bramante terminal, free shuttle, €4.60 train to Rome, BIRG tickets, timings, what to do in town and FAQs. Civitavecchia Cruise Port Guide: Getting to Rome and Everything Else You Need to Know (2026–27) Civitavecchia is Rome's cruise port: a busy harbour on the Tyrrhenian Sea about 70 km (45 miles) north-west of the city. It's Italy's number one cruise port, with a record 3.56 million cruise passengers in 2025 and around 3.7 million expected in 2026. Ships can't drop you in Rome itself, so this guide covers the free port shuttle, the €4.60 train, the new Bramante terminal, and what to do if you'd rather stay local. Feature Details Location Lazio, Italy – about 70 km (45 miles) north-west of Rome Primary Focus Cruise ships, passenger ferries, and commercial freight Main Transit Hub Amerigo Vespucci (opened 2018), Donato Bramante (opened Nov 2025), Terminal 18 (boutique, smaller ships) Ferry Destinations Sardinia, Sicily, Barcelona, and Tunis Quick Port Facts Where Do Cruise Ships Dock in Civitavecchia? Cruise ships berth along the long breakwater inside the port, and the cruise terminals are run by Roma Cruise Terminal, a company owned by Costa, MSC and Royal Caribbean. Which pier you get depends on the day's traffic, not just your cruise line. Amerigo Vespucci Terminal Opened in 2018, this is the big, modern turnaround terminal most embarking passengers will see. It has check-in halls, a café and a luggage area. Donato Bramante Terminal (new for 2026) The Donato Bramante Terminal opened at the end of November 2025, replacing the old Bramante building on Pier 12 and built in under a year. It has a check-in hall with 23 kiosks (expandable to 46), around 30 real-time information screens, a cruise bar, and décor themed on Rome and Civitavecchia landmarks. The quay was also widened from 9 to 22 metres to handle today's bigger ships. 2026 is its first full season. Terminal 18 A smaller "boutique" terminal that opened for smaller and luxury ships, so if you're on a little expedition or luxury vessel you may use this one instead. How Do I Get From My Ship Into Civitavecchia? You can't walk out of the port. Instead, a free shuttle bus (run by Port Mobility) loops between the cruise berths and Largo della Pace, the service centre at the port's pedestrian exit. Shuttles run roughly every 20–25 minutes from early morning, and the service follows ship arrival and departure times. The ride takes about 10 minutes. At Largo della Pace you'll find information points, toilets, taxis, tour meeting points and the private coach transfers to Rome. From Largo della Pace to Civitavecchia train station you have two choices: Walk – about 15–20 minutes, mostly flat, along the seafront (Viale Garibaldi). Pleasant in spring and autumn, hard work at midday in July. Station bus – a local shuttle runs between Largo della Pace and the station on ship days. It's a few euros each way (reported at €6 in 2026) and takes around 15 minutes including waiting. How Do I Get From Civitavecchia to Rome? You have four realistic options. Here's how they compare: Option, Cost (approx.) Time to Rome, Best for Regional train €4.60 one way to Roma San Pietro, ~€5 to Termini, 50–60 min to San Pietro; up to ~1h20 to Termini, Independent, budget, confident travellers BIRG day ticket €12–14 (check at ticket office), Same trains, Train both ways plus unlimited Rome metro, bus and tram Coach shuttle (Rome on your own) Varies, pre-book, About 1h15–1h30 each way, traffic dependent, Hands-off transport, no station hassle Ship's shore excursion Highest, Coach direct, Guaranteed return – the ship waits for its own tours Private transfer / taxi Highest; agree price in writing, About 1h–1h15 by road, Groups splitting cost, mobility needs By train (the cheapest way) Trains run on the FL5 line from Civitavecchia to Rome roughly every 20–30 minutes. Most cruisers get off at: Roma San Pietro – about 50–60 minutes, and a 15–20 minute walk to St Peter's Square and the Vatican. Roma Ostiense – for the Pyramid, Testaccio and Metro Line B towards the Colosseum. Roma Termini – the main station, with both metro lines; furthest away, so allow the longest journey. Regional tickets aren't tied to a specific train, so if you miss one you just take the next. Buy your return ticket before you leave Civitavecchia – the queues at Roma San Pietro in the afternoon can be long. The BIRG ticket A BIRG (Biglietto Integrato Regionale Giornaliero) is a regional day ticket. Buy the zones that cover Civitavecchia (usually listed as 5 zones) and you get the train there and back plus unlimited Rome buses, trams and metro until midnight. It's worth it if you'll use public transport in Rome two or more times; if you're just walking from San Pietro to the Vatican and back, two single train tickets work out cheaper. The Civitavecchia Express The Civitavecchia Express used to be a cruise-only train with guaranteed seats. Since June 2024 it has run as a fast regional train open to everyone, stopping only at Roma San Pietro, Roma Trastevere and Roma Ostiense. It's quicker than the stopping trains and costs more (it was €10 one way when it changed). Check whether it's running on your date on the Trenitalia website – it's seasonal. Taxi or private transfer There's no official fixed taxi fare from the port to central Rome, so agree the price before you get in, or pre-book a transfer with a driver who meets you at the ship. The few taxis in the port generally won't do the short hop to the train station. Can You Do Rome in a Day From a Cruise Ship? Yes, but you'll get the highlights, not the whole city. Allow about 1h45–2h15 each way door-to-door once you add the shuttle, the walk or bus to the station, waiting time and the train. On a typical 7am–7pm call that leaves you around five to six hours in Rome. A realistic plan for first-timers: Off the ship as early as you can, shuttle to Largo della Pace, walk or bus to the station. Train to Roma San Pietro and walk to St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican (pre-book Vatican Museums tickets – don't queue on a port day). Walk via Castel Sant'Angelo to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, or take the metro to the Colosseum. Be back in Civitavecchia at least two hours before all aboard. If you're on an independent day out and the train is delayed, the ship will not wait for you. What Is There to Do in Civitavecchia Itself? If you've seen Rome before, or simply want an easy day, Civitavecchia is a relaxed seaside town and everything below is walkable from Largo della Pace. Forte Michelangelo – the huge fortress right by the port entrance. Commissioned by Pope Julius II and finished in 1537 under Pope Paul III, with Michelangelo credited with the upper part of the main tower. It's mainly a walk-around-the-outside sight. The seafront (Viale Garibaldi) – a promenade with sea views, cafés, bars and gelato. Piazza Leandra and the market area – the town's covered market and nearby streets are where locals shop for fish and produce. The old Roman harbour (Darsena Romana) – the ancient inner basin still keeps its original shape, a reminder that this port was founded by Emperor Trajan in the early 2nd century AD as Centumcellae. National Archaeological Museum – a small museum with finds from the Roman town and the surrounding area. Beaches – small town beaches and swimming platforms along the seafront in summer. Embarking or Disembarking in Civitavecchia Getting from Fiumicino Airport to the port The easiest option is your cruise line's transfer or a pre-booked private transfer (around an hour by road). By train, you'll usually change in Rome, which can take two hours or more with luggage. If you're flying in on embarkation day, give yourself plenty of time many people prefer to arrive the day before. Luggage storage If your cruise ends here and your flight is late in the day, there are independent luggage storage shops near Largo della Pace and the train station, so you can drop your bags and enjoy the town or head into Rome. Parking Civitavecchia has car parks for cruise passengers, linked to the terminals by the cruise shuttle. Book ahead in peak season. Insider Tips for Civitavecchia Buy return train tickets in Civitavecchia. Afternoon queues in Rome can cost you a train. Validate paper tickets in the green and white machines on the platform before boarding. If you buy in the Trenitalia app, do the in-app check-in before you board. Fines on the spot are common. Sit on the right-hand side going to Rome for glimpses of the sea along the coast. [CHECK – only keep if you noticed this.] Pre-book the Vatican. Port days are some of the busiest days at the Vatican Museums. Plan to be back two hours early. The FL5 line has engineering works and delays – it had timetable changes as recently as July 2026. Carry cash for the station bus and small cafés, though cards are widely accepted. Cover shoulders and knees if you're visiting St Peter's or any church – you can be turned away. Civitavecchia Cruise Port FAQs How far is Civitavecchia cruise port from Rome? Civitavecchia is about 70 km (45 miles) north-west of Rome. By train it's around 50–60 minutes to Roma San Pietro, and roughly an hour to 1h15 by road to the city centre, depending on traffic. Can you walk from the cruise ship into Civitavecchia? No. You must take the free port shuttle bus from your ship to Largo della Pace at the port exit. From there the town centre and seafront are a short walk away. How much is the train from Civitavecchia to Rome? A regional train costs €4.60 one way to Roma San Pietro and about €5 to Roma Termini. A BIRG day ticket (around €12–14) covers the train both ways plus unlimited public transport in Rome. How long does it take to get from the cruise ship to Rome? Allow about 1h45 to 2h15 door-to-door each way by shuttle and train. That includes the shuttle to Largo della Pace, getting to the station, waiting for a train and the journey itself. Is the Civitavecchia shuttle bus free? Yes. The port shuttle between the cruise berths and Largo della Pace is free and runs throughout ship days. The separate bus from Largo della Pace to the train station is paid. Is it worth going to Rome from Civitavecchia on a cruise? For first-time visitors, yes – you can see St Peter's and a few major sights in five to six hours. If you've already been, Civitavecchia's fortress, seafront and market make for a relaxed day instead. Which train station in Rome is best for cruise passengers? Roma San Pietro is best for the Vatican and St Peter's, about a 15–20 minute walk away. Roma Ostiense suits the Colosseum area via the metro, and Roma Termini is the main hub but furthest away by train. What is the new cruise terminal at Civitavecchia? The Donato Bramante Terminal opened in November 2025, alongside the existing Amerigo Vespucci Terminal. It has an expandable check-in hall, real-time information screens, a cruise bar and a widened quay for larger ships. How early should I be back at the ship in Civitavecchia? Aim to be back in Civitavecchia at least two hours before all aboard if you go to Rome independently. Train delays happen, and the ship won't wait for passengers who aren't on a ship's excursion. Which airport is closest to Civitavecchia cruise port? Rome Fiumicino (FCO) is the closest major airport, roughly an hour away by road. Your cruise line's transfer or a pre-booked private transfer is the simplest option with luggage.
- Port Canaveral Cruise Port Guide 2026: Terminals, Parking, Ships
Port Canaveral cruise guide for 2026–27: which terminal you sail from, $20 parking explained, every ship based here, getting from Orlando, and FAQs. Port Canaveral Cruise Port Guide: Everything You Need to Know (2026–27) Port Canaveral is the world's busiest cruise port, about 45 minutes east of Orlando on Florida's Space Coast. It handled over 8.6 million passenger movements in fiscal 2025, overtaking Miami, and is home to Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas, Disney's Wish-class ships and Carnival's Mardi Gras. Parking is $20 a day, paid on arrival, with no booking needed. Is Port Canaveral the Busiest Cruise Port in the World? Yes. In fiscal year 2025 (October 2024 to September 2025), Port Canaveral recorded around 8.6 million revenue passenger movements, a 13% jump on the year before and just ahead of PortMiami's roughly 8.56 million. It is only the second time Canaveral has topped the table – the first was in 2022. The growth hasn't stopped. In August 2026 the port told its commissioners it expects about 9 million passengers for the year just ended and around 10.9 million in fiscal 2027, with 23 homeported ships. If you're comparing the two big Florida homeports, see our Miami cruise port guide . Which Cruise Lines and Ships Sail From Port Canaveral in 2026–27? Deployments change, so always check your booking – but this is the picture for the 2026–27 season and what's already announced for 2027–28. Royal Caribbean Star of the Seas – the world's largest cruise ship, sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises year-round from Terminal 1. Utopia of the Seas – 3- and 4-night Bahamas weekenders year-round, usually calling at Perfect Day CocoCay. Read our Utopia of the Seas ship guide . Harmony of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas – Bahamas and Caribbean sailings for the 2026–27 winter. Disney Cruise Line Disney Treasure – 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean. Disney Wish – 3- and 4-night Bahamas cruises (the Wish spends summer 2027 in Europe and New York before returning). From November 2027: for the first time, all three Wish-class ships – Wish, Treasure and the new Disney Destiny – will be based here together. Destiny moves up from Fort Lauderdale for 3- to 7-night Bahamas and Western Caribbean sailings. Carnival Cruise Line Mardi Gras – weeklong cruises until mid-May 2027, then switching to 4- and 5-night Bahamas sailings from 22 May 2027. Carnival Festivale (new for 2027) – the fourth Excel-class ship arrives from Southampton on 16 May 2027 and starts with a 4-night Bahamas cruise on 19 May, then takes over the weeklong Caribbean runs. Every Festivale sailing calls at Celebration Key. MSC Cruises MSC Grandiosa – year-round 7-night Caribbean cruises from winter 2026–27. MSC World Atlantic – MSC's fourth World Class ship is due to homeport here from November 2027. Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Epic, Escape and Getaway for the 2026–27 winter (Getaway on 3- to 5-night Bahamas trips). 2027–28: Norwegian Aqua, Breakaway and Epic, on 4- to 7-night Caribbean and Bahamas cruises. Princess and Celebrity Both lines run seasonal sailings from Port Canaveral – check your cruise documents for the ship and terminal. Which Terminal Do I Sail From at Port Canaveral? This is the single most important thing to know before you drive in. Port Canaveral is split by the shipping channel into A terminals on the north side (Exit 54A) and B terminals on the south side (Exit 54B), and you can't walk between them – pick the wrong exit and you're back out on SR 528 and looping round. Terminal, Side / exit, Usually used by, Notes CT1South (B) – Exit 54B Royal Caribbean (Star of the Seas, Utopia)The port's largest terminal, renovated for Icon class CT3South (B) – Exit 54B Carnival (Mardi Gras)Built for Carnival's Excel-class ships CT5North (A) – Exit 54A Norwegian, some Royal CaribbeanBeing expanded to roughly 170,000 sq ft, target end of 2026 CT6North (A) – Exit 54A Carnival, Princess and othersNew 13-storey garage opening autumn 2026 CT8North (A) – Exit 54A Disney Cruise LineDisney's dedicated terminal CT10North (A) – Exit 54A MSC, some Norwegian$95m rebuild under way until November 2027 CT2South (B) Occasional sailingsDoubles as a cargo berth Our tip: terminal assignments do move around – especially while CT5 and CT10 are under construction. Go by the terminal printed on your boarding documents, not by what a line "normally" uses. How Much Is Parking at Port Canaveral? Official port parking is $20 per day plus tax, and that rate counts both the day you board and the day you get back. So a 7-night cruise is 8 days – about $160 plus tax. Pay on arrival – no cash, major credit cards only. No reservations – the port says there's room at every terminal, including oversized spaces for RVs. Parking opens at 10am on embarkation day. Park and walk – every garage or lot sits next to its terminal, so there's no shuttle. Drop your passengers and bags at the terminal first, then park. Disability waiver – the fee is waived for vehicles with a Florida Toll Exemption Permit, a Florida Disabled Veteran plate, or adapted controls/equipment. Capacity is growing too: once the new 3,700-space garage beside Terminal 6 opens this autumn, the port will have nearly 17,500 spaces across eight garages and lots. Is off-site parking worth it? Third-party lots near the port are usually cheaper per day and include a shuttle. The trade-off comes at the end of your cruise: on busy multi-ship days you may wait for a shuttle back to your car, whereas official parking lets you walk off the ship and drive away. If you have a long drive home or a flight to catch, the port's own parking is worth the extra. How Do I Get to Port Canaveral From Orlando Airport? From Orlando International (MCO): about 45 minutes. Take the airport's north exit onto SR 528 East (a toll road – have SunPass or be ready for toll-by-plate on a rental) and follow it all the way to the port. From Orlando Melbourne (MLB): about 25 miles south, roughly 40 minutes via US-1 and SR 528. From Orlando Sanford (SFB): about an hour, via SR 417 south then SR 528 east. Your options for the transfer: Cruise line transfers – most lines sell MCO-to-ship coaches. Shared shuttles – independent companies run scheduled MCO-to-terminal services. Uber/Lyft or a car service – simplest for groups. Rental car – drop at one of the cruise-port rental offices nearby, or keep it and park. Should I fly in on embarkation day? We wouldn't. Flight delays plus Beachline traffic are a bad combination when the ship won't wait. Fly in the day before and stay either near the parks in Orlando or by the beach in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach, ten minutes from the terminals. When Should I Arrive for My Cruise? Stick to the check-in time your cruise line gives you – the port asks guests to follow assigned boarding windows. Late morning is generally the busiest period, when early check-ins and disembarking guests from up to six ships overlap. If you're offered a later slot, early afternoon is usually calmer at security and in the garages. What Is There to Do Near Port Canaveral? You don't need a boarding pass to enjoy the port – and a spare day before your cruise is well spent here. Jetty Park – at the mouth of the channel, with a beach, campground and fishing pier. It's the best free seat on the Space Coast for watching cruise ships sail out (paid parking entry applies). The Cove – the waterfront restaurant and bar strip on the south side, right by Terminals 1 and 3, with views of the ships. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex – around half an hour away. Check the port's own launch schedule: a rocket launch on sail-away day is a genuine possibility here. Cocoa Beach – the beach, the pier and the giant Ron Jon Surf Shop, about ten minutes south. Can you see rocket launches from Port Canaveral? Often, yes. The port sits next to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and launches are visible from Jetty Park, the beaches and the upper decks of ships in port. Launch times slip, so treat any you catch as a bonus. Is Port Canaveral Just a Cruise Port? No – it's also a working cargo port and a base for the space industry. Lumber, cement, steel and vehicles come through here, and you may spot recovered rocket boosters being brought back into the harbour. Cruise is the big earner, though, which is why the port is pouring close to $1 billion into its "Port Canaveral Advantage" programme of terminal expansions, garages and new technology. Insider Tips for Sailing From Port Canaveral Know your terminal before you leave the hotel. North side is Exit 54A, south side is Exit 54B. Getting it wrong means leaving the port and looping back on SR 528. Budget parking by days, not nights. $20 × (nights + 1), plus tax. Drop people and bags first. Unload at the terminal kerb, then park – porters will take your cases. Expect some construction until late 2027. CT5 and CT10 are both being rebuilt; allow a little extra time if you're sailing from either. Go to Jetty Park on your pre-cruise day. It's where you'll get the classic shot of a megaship sliding out past the pier. Carry a card, not cash, for parking. Cash isn't accepted. Port Canaveral FAQs Is Port Canaveral the busiest cruise port in the world? Yes. Port Canaveral recorded more than 8.6 million passenger movements in fiscal 2025, narrowly overtaking PortMiami to become the world's busiest cruise port. It expects around 10.9 million in fiscal 2027. How much does it cost to park at Port Canaveral? Official parking is $20 per day plus tax, including both your boarding and return days, so a 7-night cruise costs about $160 plus tax. You pay by card on arrival and no reservation is needed. Can you reserve parking at Port Canaveral? No. The port's own parking is first come, first served with no reservations, and the port says there is space at every terminal. Off-site private lots do take bookings. How far is Port Canaveral from Orlando airport? Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes east of Orlando International Airport (MCO) via SR 528, the Beachline Expressway, which is a toll road. Which terminal is Royal Caribbean at Port Canaveral? Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas normally sail from Cruise Terminal 1 on the south side (Exit 54B). Other Royal Caribbean ships can use north-side terminals, so check your boarding documents. Which terminal is Disney at Port Canaveral? Disney Cruise Line uses its own Cruise Terminal 8 on the north side of the port, reached from Exit 54A off SR 528. What cruise lines sail from Port Canaveral? Seven lines homeport ships at Port Canaveral: Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, Carnival, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess and Celebrity. What ships are new to Port Canaveral in 2027? Carnival Festivale arrives in May 2027, MSC World Atlantic in November 2027, and Disney Destiny joins Disney Wish and Disney Treasure from November 2027. Can you watch rocket launches from Port Canaveral? Often, yes. The port borders Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and launches can be seen from Jetty Park, nearby beaches and the decks of ships in port, although launch times frequently change. Should I fly into Orlando on the day of my cruise? It's safer to fly in the day before. A delayed flight or heavy traffic on SR 528 could make you miss the ship, and there are plenty of hotels in Orlando, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach.

- Hero of the Seas Ship Guide 2026: Debut, Itineraries, What's New

She brings nine pools (the most at sea), 28 dining venues, a three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse and the first SpongeBob Musical at sea. Every sailing calls at Perfect Day CocoCay. Added on 5 October 2026, this is now her first cruise with paying guests. 8 August 2027: 3-night Perfect Day CocoCay getaway from Miami. 11 August 2027: the official inaugural, a 3-night round trip from Miami to CocoCay, back on 14 August. From mid-August 2027: year-round 7-night cruises from Miami Eastern Caribbean: Perfect Day CocoCay, Philipsburg (St Maarten) and Charlotte Amalie (St Thomas). Western Caribbean: Perfect Day CocoCay, Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mexico) and Roatán (Honduras). The two routes alternate, and every single sailing includes CocoCay. Booked on the 11 August inaugural? Royal Caribbean's letter to booked guests says you can switch to one of the two earlier sailings with no change fee until 14 October 2026, at the going fare and subject to availability. If you're happy where you are, you don't need to do anything. Hero arrives in Miami the same month Icon of the Seas starts her first season from Galveston, Texas. If you want the Icon Class experience out of Miami from late 2027, Hero is the ship. As a brand new ship she has no past deployments. Itineraries do change, especially in hurricane season (June to November), so check the live schedule with Royal Caribbean before you book. Our Miami cruise port guide covers getting to the terminal, and our guide to what you're owed when a port is missed is worth a read before any autumn Caribbean sailing. Hero of the Seas Hero of the Seas Hero of the Seas What's Included on Hero of the Seas? Royal Caribbean hasn't published Hero's full venue-by-venue list yet. Based on what's confirmed and how her three sisters work, your fare covers: Your cabin, the Main Dining Room and the Windjammer buffet (standard across the Icon Class) Included casual spots confirmed for Hero: the AquaDome Market food hall, Basecamp (burgers and tater tots), El Loco Fresh (Mexican) and Sorrento's (pizza) All nine pools, the Category 6 waterpark, the FlowRider, the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall, Lost Dunes mini-golf and the sports courts Shows in the Royal Theater, AquaTheater and Absolute Zero ice arena (reserve seats in the app) Kids' and teen clubs Entry to Perfect Day CocoCay, including its free beaches, pools and island food What costs extra: Daily gratuities Specialty dining, including Orleans Parish Supper Club, Royal Railway – Hero Station, Chops Grille, Giovanni's, Izumi and Hooked Seafood Alcohol, soda and speciality coffee, unless you buy a package Wi-Fi (Voom) Crown's Edge, which is a paid add-on on Icon, Star and Legend Spa treatments Thrill Waterpark, Hideaway Beach and Coco Beach Club at CocoCay Suite guests get extra perks through Royal Suite Class. Our Sky Class explainer breaks down what each tier includes, and our real cost of a Royal Caribbean cruise shows how the extras add up across a week. Hero of the Seas Hero of the Seas Are tips included on Hero of the Seas? No. Royal Caribbean adds gratuities to your onboard account every day: $18.50 per guest, per day in standard cabins, including junior suites $21 per guest, per day in suites For a 7-night cruise that's $129.50 each in a standard cabin, or $259 for a couple. An 18% service charge also goes on drinks and other bar purchases, and spa bills carry 20%. Royal Caribbean hasn't raised its rates in 2026 while several other lines have, but Hero doesn't sail until August 2027. Prepaying gratuities when you book locks in today's rate. See our for how Royal compares with other lines. Drinks packages and Wi-Fi There are three drinks packages. The Deluxe Beverage Package covers alcohol plus everything else, the Refreshment Package covers non-alcoholic drinks including speciality coffee, and the Classic Soda Package is the budget option. Prices move by sailing and by when you buy. On Legend of the Seas' early sailings, price trackers saw the Deluxe package mostly between the $60s and around $100 per person, per night, before the 18% gratuity. Expect new-ship pricing on Hero too, and watch for Cruise Planner sales. If one adult in a cabin buys the Deluxe package, Royal Caribbean requires every adult in that cabin to buy it. Wi-Fi isn't free. Voom is sold per device: pre-booked it's typically around $20 per device, per day, and nearer $30 if you buy on board. Is Hero of the Seas Adults Only or Family Friendly? Family friendly, through and through. Royal Caribbean designed Hero around multigenerational families, and the new features (the Treehouse, family raft slides, cooking classes, the SpongeBob Musical) are aimed squarely at them. Adults still get space of their own. The Hideaway now has two pools, the largest swim-up bar at sea and an in-water DJ booth, and the Swim & Tonic pool and swim-up bar has been enlarged. In total there are three adults-only pool options. If a fully adults-only ship is a must, have a look at Virgin Voyages instead. What Makes Hero of the Seas Different? The Ultimate Family Treehouse Hero's headline cabin is a three-deck suite forward on decks 17, 18 and 19. It sleeps up to 12, with around 2,390 sq ft inside and another 1,722 sq ft of outdoor space. You get two main bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and balcony, a two-deck teen room with a games area, four bathrooms in total and a rooftop terrace with a private whirlpool. There's only one on the ship. When bookings opened, Cruise Industry News found the 2027 Christmas sailing listed at about $211,756 for the suite before taxes, and most early sailings had sold out within hours. Nine pools, the most at sea Icon of the Seas launched with seven pools. Hero has nine: Coconut Cove, a new pool next to The Lime and Coconut bar, with in-water loungers and views over Central Park The Hideaway, now with two pools for adults Swim & Tonic, expanded, with its swim-up bar Splashaway Bay, the toddler and young kids' aquapark in Surfside, with new water features Category 6 gets a funnel slide The waterpark adds two new family raft slides, one of them the first funnel raft slide at sea, plus a rework of the Storm Chasers mat-racing slides. Above it all, Crown's Edge (part skywalk, part zip line, 154 ft above the ocean) returns. Dolly, the Chief Dog Officer Each Icon Class ship has a resident dog. Hero's was named Dolly on 2 September 2026 after a public vote, a tribute to Dolly Parton. She joins Rover on Icon, Sailor on Star and Skipper on Legend. We covered how the naming vote played out . What carries over from Icon, Star and Legend The eight neighbourhoods, the Royal Promenade with the Pearl kinetic sculpture, Central Park with more than 30,500 real plants, the AquaTheater and the Absolute Zero ice arena all return. If you've sailed a sister, Hero will feel familiar. Our Legend of the Seas guide shows the layout she's built on. Sizes are taken from early cabin listings and Icon Class equivalents. Check the exact cabin on Royal Caribbean's deck plans before booking. Our tip: for a family of four or five who don't need a suite, the Surfside Family Suites and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies are the sweet spot. There aren't many of them, so book early if you're tied to school holidays. Hero of the Seas Restaurants Royal Caribbean bills Hero's 28 dining venues as a fleet record. Confirmed so far: Orleans Parish Supper Club (new, only on Hero, extra charge): a multi-course evening with live jazz, cocktails and Cajun and Creole food, themed on the French Quarter in the early 1900s. Icon's supper club is New York-themed and Legend's is Hollywood, so this is Hero's own take. Royal Railway – Hero Station (new version, extra charge): the train-carriage dining experience that mixes a themed "journey" with food and screens. Family cooking classes (new): a new Surfside venue, name still to be revealed, with classes from simple recipes for small children to chopping and baking skills for older ones. AquaDome Market (included): the food hall returns with four new stall concepts, plus Crème de la Crêpe and Simply Pressed juices. Izumi and Izumi in the Park (extra charge): sushi, including a walk-up window in Central Park. Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar (extra charge): family-style Italian. Chops Grille (extra charge): steakhouse. Hooked Seafood (extra charge): seafood. Basecamp, El Loco Fresh and Sorrento's (included): burgers, Mexican and pizza. Main Dining Room and Windjammer (included): expected as on every Icon Class ship. Booking tip: book the supper club as soon as your Cruise Planner opens. On the sister ships it's priced separately rather than sitting inside the standard dining package, and it's one of the first things to sell out. Our Hollywoodland Supper Club review shows what Legend's version costs and whether it's worth it. Hero of the Seas Shows and Nightlife The SpongeBob Musical is Hero's headline show in the Royal Theater, announced on 2 October 2026. It's the first time the Broadway musical has been staged at sea, reworked for family audiences and only available on Royal Caribbean. The story follows SpongeBob and friends trying to save Bikini Bottom, with a score that draws on songs by artists including They Might Be Giants, Plain White T's and David Bowie. The AquaTheater and the Absolute Zero ice arena will both get new productions, but Royal Caribbean hasn't named them yet. Expect live music venues around the ship day and night too. Bars confirmed so far: The Lime and Coconut, the Caribbean bar next to Coconut Cove The Hideaway swim-up bar, the largest swim-up bar at sea, adults only Swim & Tonic, the adults' swim-up bar, now bigger As a new ship, nothing has "left" Hero. Legend keeps her own headliner, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so the SpongeBob Musical is a genuine Hero exclusive. Your Perfect Day CocoCay Day Every Hero sailing, from the 3-night getaways to the 7-night routes, stops at Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas. Since late August 2026 it's officially called Perfect Day CocoCay, without the "at". Here's how to make the most of it. You walk straight off. CocoCay has a pier, so there's no tender boat. Plenty is free. The beaches, Oasis Lagoon, Chill Island, Splashaway Bay and the island's main food spots are all included. Some of it isn't. Thrill Waterpark, the adults-only Hideaway Beach, Coco Beach Club, cabanas, the zip line and the Up, Up and Away balloon cost extra. What to wear: swimwear under a cover-up, a hat, sunscreen and water shoes if you're doing the waterpark. Bring your SeaPass card, as it's how you pay for anything on the island. Book ahead. Waterpark passes and cabanas can sell out on busy days. You can also bid for cabanas and beach beds through RoyalUp, and we've published the actual bid ranges . Get off early. The first hour on the island is the quietest. Our full Perfect Day CocoCay guide has the 2026 price list and our own tips. Hero of the Seas Insider Tips The first sailing is now 1 August, not 11 August. If being among the very first on board matters to you, that 7-night Western Caribbean cruise is the one. Bookings for the new sailings open on 7 October 2026. Prepay your gratuities. It locks in the current $18.50 a day before any rise between now and August 2027. Book shows early. The SpongeBob Musical is going to be in heavy demand on a family-packed ship. Reserve seats in the app as soon as you can. Pick your cabin by neighbourhood. Icon Class ships are split into eight distinct areas. Families with small children usually want to be near Surfside, while couples may prefer suites up top or a balcony away from the pool decks. Expect new-ship pricing and teething issues. Fares, drinks packages and specialty dining run highest in the first year, and the first weeks can bring venues that aren't quite finished. If you'd rather avoid both, Icon, Star and Legend offer most of the same experience. Our newest Royal Caribbean ships list and Legend vs Icon comparison can help you choose. Remember it's hurricane season. Hero's opening months fall in the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs to the end of November. Travel insurance that covers itinerary changes is worth having.
