1. The "Staggered" Character Line Strategy

Meeting characters is a massive part of the Disney Cruise experience, but the lines in the Atrium can get long. Here is a massive time-saver: Disney’s scheduled character meet-and-greets officially keep their lines open for 15 minutes past the posted start time.

If Mickey is scheduled from 10:00 to 10:30 AM and Minnie is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:00 AM, the cutoff to join Mickey's line is actually 10:15 AM. To maximize your time, have one adult bring the kids to the end of Mickey’s line right before the cutoff window (e.g., 10:14 AM). Meanwhile, another adult can head over to secure a spot near the front of Minnie’s line. By the time you finish your photo with Mickey, you can skip a massive secondary wait and step right up to the next character.

6. The Light Switch "Dummy Card" Cabin Hack

To comply with modern energy-saving standards, staterooms on the Disney Dream require you to insert your Key to the World card into a slot next to the entrance to activate the cabin’s lights and power outlets.

The downside? When you leave the room, your devices stop charging. To bypass this, you don't actually need to use your room key. Any plastic card of a similar size—such as a library card, a grocery loyalty card, or an old gift card—can be slid into the slot to keep the power running to your outlets so your camera batteries, phones, and power banks can charge while you are out exploring the ship or port.
