The 8 Epic Neighborhoods

To make navigating the massive ship effortless, Royal Caribbean divided the Icon of the Seas into eight distinct neighborhoods, each with its own unique vibe, dining options, and attractions:

  1. AquaDome: Perched at the top front of the ship, this glass-enclosed space offers sweeping 220-degree ocean views by day. By night, it transforms into a vibrant entertainment hub featuring the AquaTheater, complete with a massive morphing waterfall and incredible high-diving acrobatics.

  2. Thrill Island: The adrenaline center of the ship, home to the largest waterpark at sea and high-flying obstacle courses.

  3. Chill Island: Designed for ultimate relaxation, this multi-deck slice of paradise features four of the ship’s seven pools, including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea.

  4. Surfside: A neighborhood built purely for young families. It features kid-friendly aquaparks, a dedicated carousel, and eateries right next to the splash zones so parents can relax while the kids play.

  5. The Hideaway: Suspended 135 feet above the ocean, this adults-only beach club boasts the first suspended infinity pool at sea, surrounded by a multi-level sun terrace.

  6. Central Park: An open-air oasis in the middle of the ship featuring thousands of real plants, upscale dining, and quiet pathways for a peaceful evening stroll.

  7. Royal Promenade: The heartbeat of the ship. Here, you'll find "The Pearl" (a massive, interactive kinetic art sphere), massive windows bringing in natural light, and over 15 restaurants and bars.

  8. Suite Neighborhood: An exclusive, VIP enclave for suite guests spanning four decks, featuring a private sun deck, pool, and high-end dining at Coastal Kitchen and The Grove.

Unmatched Thrills & Entertainment

If you are a thrill-seeker, the Icon of the Seas delivers experiences you won't find anywhere else.

  • Category 6 Waterpark: Located in Thrill Island, this is the largest waterpark ever set sail. It features six record-breaking slides, including Frightening Bolt (the tallest drop slide at sea) and Pressure Drop (the first open free-fall waterslide on a cruise).

  • Crown’s Edge: Part skywalk, part ropes course, and part thrill ride. You strap in and walk along the ship's iconic crown logo until the floor suddenly gives way, leaving you swinging 154 feet above the open ocean.

  • Absolute Zero: The largest ice-skating arena in the Royal Caribbean fleet, featuring cutting-edge digital projections and breathtaking performances by professional figure skaters.

Dining and Nightlife

With over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges, the culinary options are endless. Whether you want a quick bite between waterslides or a multi-course luxury dinner, the ship caters to every palate.

Highlights include upscale sushi, premium steakhouses in Central Park, casual family-friendly buffets in Surfside, and the Swim & Tonic—the cruise line's first-ever swim-up bar at sea. For nightlife, guests can sing along at Dueling Pianos, catch a comedy show at The Attic, or enjoy a quiet cocktail overlooking the ocean in the AquaDome.

Next-Level Accommodations

The staterooms on Icon of the Seas were completely redesigned to maximize space and connection to the ocean.

With 28 different categories, there is a room for every budget and group size.

Families love the Surfside Family Suite, which includes a separate alcove for kids tucked away from the adults. For the ultimate splurge, the Ultimate Family Townhouse is a three-story mansion at sea. It spans 1,772 square feet and features an in-suite slide, a karaoke station, an interactive gaming table, and a private backyard with direct access to the Surfside neighborhood.

Where Does Icon of the Seas Sail?

The Icon of the Seas currently sails year-round out of Miami, Florida, offering incredible 7-night itineraries that explore the best of the Caribbean. Whether you prefer the lush jungles of the West or the pristine beaches of the East, every sailing has one spectacular thing in common: a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island.

  • Eastern Caribbean Itineraries: These sailings typically visit ports like Philipsburg (St. Maarten), Charlotte Amalie (St. Thomas), and San Juan (Puerto Rico).

  • Western Caribbean Itineraries: These routes take you to adventurous destinations like Roatán (Honduras), Costa Maya (Mexico), and Cozumel (Mexico).

  • Perfect Day at CocoCay: Every Icon sailing includes a stop at Royal Caribbean's award-winning private island in the Bahamas. Here, you can relax in the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean or take on the towering 135-foot Daredevil’s Peak waterslide.

5 Insider Tips and Hidden Gems

With a ship this massive, there are plenty of secrets that most cruisers don't discover until their vacation is almost over. Here are our top tips for hacking your Icon of the Seas experience:

  1. Skip the Buffet Crowds: The Windjammer buffet is incredible, but it can get busy during peak breakfast and lunch hours. For a quieter, high-quality meal, head to the AquaDome Market (Royal Caribbean's first food hall) or grab a delicious, complimentary breakfast sandwich at the Pearl Café on Deck 6.

  2. Starbucks on the Drink Package: If you purchased the Deluxe Beverage Package, you can get premium espresso, cold brew, and Frappuccinos for free at the Pearl Café. However, if you order the exact same drink at the branded Starbucks kiosk on Deck 5, you will be charged extra!

  3. Find the Hidden Slushie Machines: The main pool deck bars are always popular, but if you head to the center Lime & Coconut bar on Deck 16, you will find exclusive cocktail slushie machines that the other bars don't have. (Try the Miami Vice!)

  4. Reserve Shows Immediately: The entertainment on the Icon is free, but the spectacular shows in the AquaDome and the Absolute Zero ice arena "sell out" of reservations very quickly. Download the Royal Caribbean app and book your showtimes the absolute second you board the ship.

  5. Escape to The Overlook: If you need a quiet place to read a book or just stare at the ocean, head to the very front of the ship in the AquaDome. Tucked away behind the theater are "The Overlook Pods"—gorgeous, comfortable seating areas with massive floor-to-ceiling windows that most guests completely miss.

What is Included in Your Icon of the Seas Fare?

When booking a premium ship like the Icon, it is important to know what you get for your money. While there are plenty of ways to upgrade your experience, a massive amount of the ship's best features are completely free:

  • Incredible Dining: Access to the Main Dining Room, Windjammer Buffet, Sorrento’s Pizza, El Loco Fresh, Surfside Bites, the AquaDome Market, and Basecamp.

  • All The Thrills: Unlimited access to the Category 6 Waterpark, the FlowRider surf simulator, the rock climbing wall, mini-golf, and the Surfside carousel.

  • World-Class Entertainment: Every Broadway-style production, high-diving AquaTheater show, and ice skating spectacular is included in your fare.

  • Kids Programming: Adventure Ocean, the award-winning kids' club, provides supervised childcare and activities for ages 3 to 12.
