Caribbean Princess Insider Tips, Hacks, and Hidden Secrets
Every cruise ship has its quirks, hidden spaces, and operational shortcuts. Knowing how to navigate the Caribbean Princess like a seasoned pro can save you time, help you avoid crowds, and lead you straight to some of the best unobstructed views on the ocean.
1. The "Secret" Forward Viewing Decks
If you want a completely unobstructed, panoramic view of port arrivals, departures, or a scenic canal transit, head all the way forward on Deck 10 (Baja) or Deck 11 (Aloha). Walk past the staterooms to the absolute end of the long hallways. You will encounter a door that looks semi-private or marked for safety. Open it, and you will step onto a massive, wrap-around public deck directly above the ship's bridge.
Tip: These decks are almost always deserted because most passengers think the doors are restricted to the crew. Just be prepared—it gets incredibly windy out there when the ship is at cruising speed!
2. Escape to the Terrace Pool (Deck 14 Aft)
The main mid-ship pools (Calypso and Neptune Reef) can get incredibly chaotic, loud, and crowded—especially on sea days when Movies Under the Stars is running.
If you are looking for a quieter, more relaxed vibe without paying the premium fee for The Sanctuary, walk all the way to the back of Deck 14 (Riviera Deck) to find the Terrace Pool. Tucked beneath the structure of Skywalkers Nightclub, this hidden gem offers:
-
A classic, adult-focused atmosphere.
-
Incredible, unobstructed views of the ship's wake.
-
Easy access to the Outrigger Bar for quick drink service.
-
3. Skywalkers Nightclub is a Daytime Sanctuary
Suspended like a massive spoiler at the very back of the ship on Deck 18, Skywalkers Nightclub is famous for late-night dancing. However, during the day, it is one of the quietest spots on the entire vessel.
The massive floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows offer a stunning 180-degree look at the ocean. It is the perfect, air-conditioned retreat if you want to read a book, work on a laptop, or enjoy a quiet conversation far away from the pool deck noise.
4. The Master the Promenade Workout (Decks 7 & 8)
Unlike many modern ships where the jogging track wraps tightly around rows of sun loungers, the Caribbean Princess features a classic, wrap-around Promenade Deck.
The track is primarily on Deck 7, but it forms a complete circle by directing you up a set of stairs at the bow to Deck 8, wrapping around the front of the ship, and coming back down. Integrating this incline into your walk or jog adds a great workout dynamic.
-
Note for fresh air: If you prefer to avoid cigarette or cigar smoke entirely, try to stay on the port side, as the designated open-air smoking section is localized on the starboard aft corner of the promenade.
-
5. The Buffet Traffic Hack
The World Fresh Marketplace can feel tight and chaotic during prime breakfast and lunch rushes. The amateur mistake is stopping at the very first food stations you see upon entering.
Always walk deeper, all the way toward the aft (back) sections of the buffet. The stations further back frequently mirror the exact same food options but have a fraction of the line. Even better, you can walk right out the back doors onto the open aft decks to eat your meal with an ocean breeze.
6. The Central Staircase Advantage
The Caribbean Princess belongs to the Grand Class of ships, but it has a massive design advantage over its older sister ship, the Grand Princess. On the Caribbean Princess, the central staircase extends fully above Deck 7, connecting right up through the passenger cabin decks. This makes vertical navigation mid-ship significantly faster if you want to bypass the mid-ship elevators during peak hours (like right after a major theater show lets out).
