Scarlet Lady
Discover the Scarlet Lady: A New Era of Adult-Only Cruising
If you are looking for a cruise vacation that breaks all the traditional rules, look no further than Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady. As the highly anticipated inaugural ship of the Virgin Voyages fleet, the Scarlet Lady has completely redefined the modern cruise experience. Say goodbye to crowded buffets, forced formal nights, and screaming children, and say hello to an exclusive, adult-by-design (18+) luxury escape at sea.
Whether you are a seasoned sailor or a first-time cruiser, here is everything you need to know about stepping aboard the Scarlet Lady.
Dining on the Scarlet Lady: No Buffets Allowed
One of the most revolutionary aspects of the Scarlet Lady cruise ship is its approach to food. There are no massive dining halls, no assigned seating times, and absolutely no buffets. Instead, the ship feels like a floating city of high-end restaurants, all cooked to order.
Must-Try Restaurants Onboard:
-
The Wake: The ship's glamorous steak and seafood venue, featuring a dramatic staircase entrance and incredible views of the ship's trail.
-
Pink Agave: An upscale Mexican eatery boasting the largest collection of mezcal and tequila at sea.
-
Gunbae: A high-energy Korean BBQ restaurant where your food is cooked right at your table, complete with complimentary drinking games.
-
Razzle Dazzle: A vibrant, vegetarian-forward restaurant that also offers "naughty" meat-based sides and incredible craft cocktails.
-
The Galley: The ship’s food-hall concept featuring dedicated stations for tacos, sushi, burgers, and 24-hour breakfast, replacing the traditional cruise buffet.

Cabins and Suites: Modern Luxury at Sea
The Scarlet Lady cabins are designed with smart technology, modern aesthetics, and comfort in mind. From cozy interior rooms to sprawling luxury suites, there is an accommodation level for every traveler.
-
The Sea Terrace: The most popular cabin category on the ship. These balcony rooms feature mood lighting, a transformative "Seabed" that converts into a sofa during the day, and the iconic hand-woven red hammock on the balcony—perfect for watching the sunset.
-
RockStar Quarters: If you want VIP treatment, upgrade to a suite. "RockStars" get exclusive access to Richard's Rooftop (a private VIP deck), priority boarding, and early access to dining and entertainment reservations.

Scarlet Night: The Ultimate Party at Sea
You cannot write about the Resilient Lady without mentioning Scarlet Night. This is the marquee event of every Virgin Voyage, and it takes over the entire ship.
Conceived by award-winning theater producers, Scarlet Night is part immersive theater, part massive pool party. The ship is bathed in red light, pop-up circus performances happen in the hallways, and the entire night culminates in a massive, high-energy dance party on the pool deck.
-
The Dress Code: Everyone is encouraged to pack an outfit with a splash of red. Some people go all out in red sequin gowns, while others keep it simple with a red t-shirt or accessory.
-
The Vibe: It is inclusive, wildly energetic, and feels more like a private music festival than a traditional cruise ship deck party.

Entertainment & Nightlife
-
Virgin Voyages is famous for its festival-like entertainment. You won't find traditional Broadway-style productions here; instead, the Scarlet Lady offers immersive, interactive, and boundary-pushing shows.
-
The Red Room: The first transformative, multi-form theater at sea. The seating configuration changes depending on the show, ranging from immersive acrobatic performances to late-night dance parties.
-
The Manor: A stunning, two-story nightclub inspired by Richard Branson's history in the music industry.
-
Scarlet Night: The signature ship-wide party. The entire ship is illuminated in red, featuring pop-up circus performances, live music, and an epic pool party. (Pro tip: Pack a red outfit!)
7 Insider Secrets Most First-Time Sailors Miss
1. The "Pre-Boarding" Wi-Fi Hack
Don't wait until you are in your cabin to book your shows and fitness classes. Often, you can connect to the Scarlet Lady's Wi-Fi while you are still waiting in the terminal at PortMiami. The second you connect, open the Virgin Voyages app and start booking your high-demand reservations (like the Bungee class or the Duel Reality show) before anyone else even steps foot on the ship.
2. How to Waive the Room Service Fee
Virgin Voyages offers incredible room service (called "Ship Eats"), but there is a flat $7 delivery fee. The Hack: Order any paid item with your food—like a $5 premium coffee, a Red Bull, or a beer. If you order a paid drink, the $7 delivery fee is completely waived!
3. Secret Menus and Half-Portions
The dining on board is unlimited, and you should take full advantage of it:
-
Extra Virgin (Italian): You don't have to choose just one pasta dish. Ask your server for "half portions" so you can sample the entire pasta menu without getting uncomfortably full.
-
Test Kitchen: If you are on a longer sailing or just want to eat here twice, ask for the "Second Menu." They have a completely different, unadvertised experimental menu for repeat guests.
-
The Dock: Look out for the hidden dessert cart inside The Dock House; they have amazing shortbread cookies and lemon curd that aren't listed on the standard menus.
4. The Hidden Magic Show
Not all shows are listed in the main schedule. Keep an eye out for a smaller, afternoon magic or mentalist show hosted by a Happenings Cast member known as "The Charmer." If you attend and interact, you might be handed a physical card inviting you to a top-secret, invite-only magic show held later that night deep in the belly of the ship.
5. The Aft Hot Tubs on Deck 16
The main pool area on Deck 15 can get loud and crowded, especially on sea days. Instead, head up to Deck 16 Aft (near the Athletic Club). The hot tubs tucked away back here are almost always empty, they have great jets, and they tend to be kept a bit hotter than the ones by the main pool.
6. Balcony Hammock Storage Trick
The red hammocks on the Sea Terrace balconies are iconic, but they take up a lot of space if you just want to stand at the railing. You don't have to call your room steward to take it down—you can easily unclip one end of the hammock and hook it to the other side to instantly open up your entire balcony.
7. Bring Your Own Wine
Virgin Voyages allows you to bring up to two 750ml bottles of wine or champagne per cabin in your carry-on luggage. You can open it in your room for free, or pay a small $25 corkage fee to drink it at a restaurant (which can be paid using your pre-purchased Bar Tab).
